Taming the Beast

Recent cold snaps have been chilly enough for me to rescue my Saffron Cables afghan out of the bottom of the works in progress basket. The first pattern repeat is completed and the second is nearly halfway there, too. I've finally been able to find the pattern's rhythm and haven't had my eyes glued to the pattern charts. It makes for great TV knitting - lots of episodes of Monk and What Not to Wear have been sucked into this blanket. Bandit is trying to lay claim to it - every time I work on it, Bandit's on my lap with at least his head cuddled up to the completed work. Very cute, but it makes an all ready heavy project feel like it's made of lead! Sunday, I hope to be able to log a bunch of knitting hours on this between doing loads of Mount Laundry. :-/

Knittin' Fool

Faroese shawl got a good blocking over the weekend, and the final ends were woven in. Second Christmas present is done! *dance*

Project Details
Pattern: Faroese Shawl from "A Gathering of Lace"
Yarn: 2 skeins of Malabrigo lace weight yarn in "Orchid"
Needles: Knitpicks Options US 4
Project Thoughts: LOVED this project. The yarn was wonderful to work with - not splitty yet very soft. The final piece is beautiful and is a very manageable size. Rarely do I say this, but I would reknit this project in a heartbeat. The Faroese shawl style stays on your shoulders easily, too.

Guess it's a very serious shawl based off my facial expression

I've started another Christmas present and am over halfway complete all ready. It's the His/Hers Reversible Scarf from "Cables Untangled". Simple quick knit using Malabrigo worsted weight in "natural", but my hands are itching for more lace knitting.

Cheap knitwear model for hire - will work for cookies...

or belly rubs while watching "Chuck"
